"White Choral Bells"

Lilies of the Valley
More of my lilies of the valley. Just a favourite! When I was little, my Mom and I sang while we did the dishes. A little round that went:

White choral bells, upon a slender stalk,
Lilies of the valley deck my garden walk.
Oh don't you wish that you could hear them ring?
That can happen only when the fairies sing.

  3. I haven't thought about that song in many years; I think we used to sing it as a round in Brownies. Interestingly, I don't think I understood as a child that it was about flowers. -Jean

  4. I love your photo! They are so delicate. I've never heard the poem. It fits the flowers. I wish I could smell them over the computer. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Beautiful photo Diane! Your mom sounds like my own and my Oma, too. Both lovers of songs and flowers. Precious memories.

  6. Dear Diane, I love the little verse, which I hadn't heard before. Thank you for visiting my 'lasagna garden' and commenting TWICE. In answer to your question, I mulched with mushroom compost this year. I may add cedar bark, later. P. x

  8. I remember that song. I love the photo! Lily of the valley blooms are hard for me to get decent photos of.

You asked me if I ride with my husband on his motorcycle. I wasn't really wanting him to get it, and told him I would not be riding on it. Plus, I don't like wind blowing on me. It's an old Honda (I think) 390. I broke down and told him I'd be willing to ride short distances, but he said he's not confident enough of a driver yet to have a passenger.

Right now, he's out looking at larger motorcycles. He has some money from retirement that he's determined to spend on one. (He knew when he retired it was really a job change, so he is working at a different job now.) Again, I'm not happy about him wanting another motorcycle. We have very little saved for retirement. Also, I thought he should be satisfied with the other one, but he says he's not mechanical to have that old of a motorcycle. There are a number of people who are interested in buying the one he has, but I wonder how much they think it's worth.

Well, that was a long winded answer! Do you ride with your husband?

If you have a question, I'll respond on your own blog, if you leave me the link! I'll also answer questions here (in case anyone else is interested).

I had to start 'moderating' the comments because I was getting so much spam, so if you notice your comment doesn't show up right away, that is why.

Happy Gardening!
