my little collection of bearded irises |
I've been enjoying the irises here! They are lovely this year and now all the colours that I have are in bloom. My small collection has four solid coloured irises (white, blackish purple, light mauve, and light blue). I also have three different bi-colour irises (variations of purple and white).
I have no idea of the varieties, as they were all gifts from my dear friend, Rita. The purple and white one, that is shown second from the top, was given to Rita by the woman who got her iris collection started over forty-five years ago.
Above is my very favourite iris, because it is from my mother-in-law's garden. These are the very first ones to come into bloom each June.
Until next time, happy gardening.
You have a beautiful collection of iris! What a gorgeous shade of blue in there. I like the old-fashioned two-tone iris too, and that purple & white combination looks so familiar. I was able to get a 'heritage' iris of my grandmother's garden from my sister. My grandmother passed away over 45 years ago, so it means a lot to me to now have this in my garden. My iris are just finishing now, and it'll be a long wait to see them again next year ;) Have a great weekend! Wendy x
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, I like them all. A friend shared some of a white iris with me that is supposed to bloom again in late summer so I look forward to that.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful collections of irises, Diane. I especially love the colour of the ones in the first photo and the glowing white variety. Of course, having some from a friend or relative makes them even more special.

They are beautiful, one of those sorts of plants that doesn't look real somehow I always think. You have a great collection. xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful flower and you have so many different varieties - lucky you to have a friend like Rita .
ReplyDeleteYour iris variations are outstanding lady! Just pure beauty happening in your garden! I can see why you love this bloom so much! I need to add some to my garden next year!!!! I hope that you have a great weekend! Nicole xoxo

I love that irises seem to always have come from a loved one. Mine are from a small bag of bulbs my dad gave me to get my garden started. I always think of him when they bloom and especially love the years when they are blooming on Father's Day.
ReplyDeleteLove the variety you have!
Very lovely Iris collection - my favorite is the white and purple.
ReplyDeleteYour 'little' collection is much bigger than mine, Diane. I have only three types. Your beautiful blooms inspire me to get more. P. x
ReplyDeleteYour irises are just beautiful Diane! I love the purple ones at the end of the post especially. Mine haven't bloomed yet and I fear that they are not going to this year. Hopefully next year... Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI just love your irises! This year I moved all of mine that haven't been blooming to a spot where they do bloom. Hopefully, next year I will see what varieties I have bought in the past that haven't been blooming! It should be a fun surprise!
